charli at glaNow residing in Chicago, IL, Charli Renken grew up in Denver, CO, and holds a BA in Creative Writing and Literature from the Santa Fe University of Art and Design. They are a multimedia storyteller with experience in investigative journalism, critique, travel writing, and creative nonfiction. Their work revolves around the city of Chicago, queer studies, pop culture studies, and activism.

Renken is currently the Editor of Secret Chicago, an online guide to things to do in the city. They also volunteer as the Resource Coordinator for the nonprofit The Harry Potter Alliance.  They have been published by Wizards in Space, The Jackalope, Glyph Literary Magazine, Hush Comics, The Denver Post, Calling Upon Calliope and many more. Renken has also been a public speaker at events such as SFAI 140, Denver Comic Con, and The Granger Leadership Academy. Renken’s first collection of creative nonfiction, Interrobang was published in 2017.

Renken is available for hire for copywriting, editing, freelance journalism, photography and public speaking events.
